As the name suggests, this King Kong chair is engineered specifically for rugged use by those who are a little bigger. The 600D polyester fabric this chair is made from is extremely tough, and also water repellent. The powder-coated alloy steel frame only adds to the strength of this chair.

The overall size of the chair is what makes it great for a wide variety of people, and if you find you often need a bigger chair when sitting by the fire, than this chair is perfect for you! The seat is a little over 2 feet wide, giving plenty of room for comfort!

Comfort

Ask anyone who has used this chair at some point or another, and I guarantee they are all satisfied and often surprised by its comfort! This chair not only does what it says it can do, but it goes above and beyond!

For what it is, and from experiences in the past, I was a little skeptical. I have sat in chairs that claim to be comfortable and rugged, yet I just wasn’t satisfied with it. The King Kong chair, however, was perfect!

Dislikes

The only thing that was notable as being kind of frustrating were the cupholders and the weight. In regards to the cupholders, they were just too small for some of my drinks, so I had to either hold them or set them on the ground.

Other chairs out there have the really large cupholders that are made for large drinks or cups, so that is something to think about when looking at this chair.

In terms of weight, it is a heavy chair compared to other ones that I own. It is definitely not made to be carried a long way, or put in a backpack for a long hike.

With the super strong nature of this chair, however, this issue is pretty easily justifiable for me. You may not feel the same way, but the weight is definitely not a major issue that would prevent me from buying it again.

One thing I dislike about some camp chairs out there is how they can be difficult to store or carry. Some of the chairs I have seen simply fold flat, which is a good design on paper, but more often than not they end up being extremely awkward to pack into the back of a truck. Fingers will also get pinched in these style chairs as well, which we all know is just the worst!

The classic shoulder strap bag most chairs come in is perfect, but these chairs are often flimsy and not built well overall. The Alps Mountaineering King Kong chair comes with the shoulder bag we are all used to, so carrying and storing it will be no issue! By combining durability, ease of use, size, and packability, the King Kong really got everything right!

I truly think this is going to be the best chair for those who want a little more room and durability when they are using this chair.

The ALPS Mountaineering King Kong Chair is one of the best chairs that I have seen on the market in recent years. A lot of bigger people that like to go camping or sit around the fire in your backyard, often struggle finding a chair that is good for what they need.

The sheer strength and toughness of this chair is what makes it great for those people, all while providing maximum comfort! The strong material will be able to hold up against wear and tear over many years, unlike the cheaply made chairs we remember using while they were falling apart.

What Would Make this Heavy-Duty Camping Chair Even Better?

I believe that there is not a ton that would make this chair a whole lot better, but the one thing I see on other chairs, and something I have used and really enjoyed, is a little side table!

I don’t know about you, but having a little folding table built into my chair is something I always use, and never set the chair up without also opening the table. While the ALPS Mountaineering King Kong chair does not come with one of these standard, it would be really great if it did!
